Now That’s a Bookstore!

Last week, I had the wonderful blessing of being able to attend the Together for the Gospel (T4G) Conference, held here in Louisville. There were an impressive assortment of speakers, with probably R.C. Sproul and John Piper standing out as my favorites. The Conference has done a great service of posting the mp3s of the conference speakers free for downloading. If you have the opportunity, make sure to listen to the messages given by Sproul and Piper.

In all there were over 5000 folks at the conference. I took a picture, although it did not turn out well because of the lighting (we were not supposed to use flash photography either).

One of the more impressive things about the conference (besides the speakers!) was the number of booksellers gathered. It was quite an impressive bookstore (almost overwhelming!), as the pictures below will hopefully attest.

Of course, the conference itself provided us with many books (I didn’t go to every session, but I received over a dozen) that are going to occupy my reading for some time to come.

Also at the conference, I was able to meet on of my fellow bloggers at World Magazine’s blogsite. His name is Tom, he’s a PCA minister in Arizona, and he even has his own blog. Pay him a visit sometimes if you can.

I am so jealous you were able to go. I WILL be at the next one. Dis R.C. look as bad as he sounded on the audio?

I’ll even make you more jealous — I was only able to go at the last minute, and I got to go for free! A local pastor was working one of the book tables and got me a comp pass. The pictures do not do justice to the quantity and quality of the books available.

Sproul actually looked pretty good (I thought he sounded good as well). He does not sound the same in person as he does on radio (booth, mic effects, whatever, but folks in person rarely sound like they do on the radio). I was him two years ago and he looked better. He has to sit down now to teach, though. So does Jay Adams, btw.
