It seems that Christopher Hitchens continues to get around on his hate spree against Christianity (and religion in general). World Magazine had a story of a debate that Hitchens had with Allister McGrath, and this morning I read this article about a debate he will be engaged in next week. I found it interesting that the gentleman he will be debating (Denish D’Souza; the topic will be “Is Religion the Problem?”) has already debated Hitchens twice before: once on the subject of socialism, and once on the topic of political correctness. Hitchens is no longer a socialist, and judging by his demeanor, he’s not much of a PC-guy these days. I can only hope that after this next debate, his anti-God tune will begin to change as well.

But I could not resist posting this next story. If anything, it demonstrates a certain bias within the media. It seems that Hitchens showed up for a ritzy event in NY (hosted by David Horowitz), where he spewed his speech, some which was blatantly anti-semitic. Several folks at the event seemed to think that Hitchens was obviously drunk. The coup de grace came when a priest (who, unknown to Hitchens, was a member of the club where the event was held, as well as being a 9/11 hero) stood and objected to Hitchens rhetoric, and Hitchens had to be restrained (twice!) from attacking him. Of course I don’t remember any of this making the NY papers or the evening news. It didn’t happen recently, either: I happened way back in May. You can read about it here and here, but be warned: Hitchens’ language can sometimes flirt with the boundaries of good taste.
